Dinner and a Movie

Final Image
Title: A Moment in Time
Digital Photography
Inspired by the movie Back to the Future

Artist Statement
The photograph reflects themes of nostalgia and time. The objects chosen help to reflect these themes. The old dual-sided clock portrays the theme of time, and the plate is an old thrifted plate, which brings in nostalgia. The lighting of the photo brings in the feeling of nostalgia as well. The red reflecting off the silverware and on the butter in the bowl brings attention to these items and creates a warm/ cozy feeling. The grainy quality of the photo brings in a vintage aspect, which further reflects the period and nostalgia.

Research #1
- Behind the movie: Producer Gale explains that he was going through his father's yearbook and began to wonder if they would have been friends, and how his life would be if it were at that time. This is where the concept of the movie came from

The DeLorean blows smoke in a parking lot in Back to the Future (1985).

Research #2
- Quote from Producer Gale"There's that great moment when Marty comes back to 1985 at the end of the first movie, and the town square of 1985, it looks like hell. You got the bum sleeping on the bench, and you got the adult bookstore, and the 1955 town square park is now paved over as a parking lot. He comes back and says, 'Everything looks great!' But it's only great to him because that's his world, he's back in his own familiar world," Gale adds. "We were able to just tell this time-travel story and make it not about changing history but making it a human story about something that everybody in the world has wondered: 'What did my parents do on their first date?' It just connects with everybody."
